304l and 304 have the following three differences:
1. The prices are different. The price of 304L stainless steel is generally higher than that of 304 stainless steel. So if 304L is used instead of 304, the price will increase the cost.
2. The chemical composition is different. The most basic is that the carbon content of 304L stainless steel is less than 0.03, while the carbon content of 304 is less than 0.08.
3. Different mechanical properties. Compared with 304L mechanical properties, this steel type is obtained by reducing the carbon content of 304 to less than 0.03%. Its general characteristics are almost the same as 304, but 304L stainless steel can inhibit the precipitation of chromium carbide between 500 and 900oC. The sensitization caused by welding can improve the susceptibility to intergranular corrosion caused by welding, so it is suitable for large-scale welded structural materials and pipe fittings that need to be used directly after welding. The biggest feature of stainless steel is to improve the sensitivity of intergranular corrosion, and reduce the carbon content to the welded part without causing practical heat sensitization problems.
