Duplex Stainless Steel Tube for Heat Exchanger
01. Commodity: seamless duplex (ferritic/austenitic) stainless steel heat-exchanger tubing.
02. Process method: cold drawn, cold rolled.
03. Surface finish: solution annealing and passivated, bright annealing.
04. Material: S31803, S31500, S32205/SAF2205, S32304/SAF2304, S32750/SAF2507, S32760; 1.4410, 1.4462, 1.4501 with corresponding GB, ANSI, EN, JIS, BS & ISO material designations.
05. Specification: EN10216-5, ASTM (ASME) A/SA789.
06. Size (astm/asme size as under, other standards of size is for ready choice)

2205 is the most widely used duplex (ferritic/austenitic) stainless steel grade. It finds applications due to both excellent corrosion resistance and high strength. Duplex S32205 gives better guaranteed corrosion resistance, but for much of the Duplex S31803 currently produced also complies with Duplex S32205. 2205 is not generally suitable for use at temperatures above 300ºC as it suffers from precipitation of brittle micro-constituents, nor below -50ºC because of its ductile-to-brittle-transition.
Applications: Most duplex stainless steel tube often employed in heat exchangers, chemical tanks, flue gas filters, acetic acid distillation components. Chemical processing, transport and storage, Oil and Gas exploration and processing equipment, Marine and other high chloride environments, Pulp and paper digesters, liquor tanks and paper machines.
Machinability: Similar in nature to 316 stainless steel. Slow speeds, positive feeds, sharp tooling and rigid mounts are essential. Machinable with either high speed or carbide tooling, with speeds for carbide reduced by roughly 20 %.
Forming: Due to its inherently high strength and work hardening rate, 2205 is difficult to form. It will take a lower radius than 316 stainless and a higher allowance must be made for spring back.
